Eveready’s “Make your Like Count” Campaign
Date : 07 August 2014
Here at Eveready, we strive to make a difference in our community, no matter how big or small. Our Positively South Africa approach to life in our beautiful country is what inspired us to launch our "Make your Like Count” campaign in June 2014.
We decided to take advantage of social media’s popularity by doing something great for two Port Elizabeth charities very near and dear to our hearts. All Facebook and Twitter users had to do was Like or Retweet our images of our charities. We donated R1 for every Like and Retweet – and the results were not disappointing.
Our first charity of choice was Isithembiso Babies Home, a home for babies aged 0 – 3 years who have been neglected, abused or abandoned. Isithembiso has been around since 2005 and are currently situated in Walmer where they offer a safe and comfortable home for up to six babies at a time. The babies are looked after here until they are placed with foster parents, adopted or reunited with family members.
Thanks to the public, we were able to donate R2000 to Isithembiso.
Our other charity was the Animal Welfare Society in Walmer. This animal shelter has been open since 1971 and safely houses lost and abandoned animals. The animal shelter works hard to be able to take in and look after cats, dogs, horses and even cattle. Volunteers are most welcome here and the lovely people of Port Elizabeth visit Animal Welfare daily to adopt a new furry friend.
Once again, thanks to the public and their participation on social media, we were able to donate R5000 to Animal Welfare Society.
Thank you to everyone who helped us to make a difference to these two charities.
