Eveready alkaline batteries powers up its market share

Date : 03 October 2012

The latest Neilsen report is out, and the Eveready alkaline, Platinum, which was the last to enter the South African battery market, has achieved its greatest market share – ever.

Based on volumes, the market share for the Eveready alkaline battery for August 2012 stood at 24.6%, graphs indicating a steading rise for 2012.

Avijit Das, Eveready managing director said of the report: "The team is delighted with the latest results. For the past three years, we have seen a steady incline in market share, with a huge boost in the past three months, showing an all time high of 24.8% market share in June.”

The new Eveready battery branding has brought the brand up to date with a very modern, technological feel, to represent the brand values and vision. Liza Bright, Eveready battery brand manager added: "Evereadyhas always been the affordable battery offering value for money. Since we decided to focus on availability and visibility: more interruption points and eye-catching packaging we have caught consumers' attention and this has driven sales throughout the year.”

Platinum, as well as the entire Eveready battery range is stocked in all good supermarkets and stores nationally.

The report, which is carried out monthly by Nielsen, an independent global leader in measurement and information, provides organisations with consumer insight, market trends and emerging technology data.
